Abstract

Mlac:ICR mice are being raised at the National Institute for Control of Vaccines and Biologicals. Since being transferred and breeding at the Institute, the number of production and use is about 30 thousand animals per year. Before testing or breeding, animals should be checked to ensure health. Macroscopic examination as well as the appointment of tests for early detection of acquired diseases, avoiding the use of substandard animals will affect the research and testing results as well as the maintenance of the breed. This study was conducted with the initial objective of building reference parameters for the weight of internal organs of white mice of the breed Mlac:ICR reared under Vietnamese conditions. Description of the laboratory methods determination of internal organ weight of Mlac:ICR mice, performed on 600 individuals (300 male and 300 female mice), at each age of 50 males and 50 females. The results show the mean, standard deviation, and body weight percentage of the Mlac:ICR mice's internal organ weight at the age of 21; 24; 28; 35 days, 9 weeks old and retired mice, separate between male and female mice including: Heart, liver, lung, spleen, thymus and kidneys.CThe weight parameters of internal organs of Mlac:ICR mice raised at the National Institute for Control of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals vary depending on age, sex and are equivalent to some laboratory animal supply facility in the world.
