Abstract

bOPV and SII vaccines are two commonly used vaccines in the expanded immunization program. Therefore, the follow-up of side effects after injection is an important work to understand the causes and factors related to this condition. Design a cross-sectional descriptive study on 350 children under 1 year old vaccinated with SII and bOPV vaccines in the expanded immunization program at health stations in Ninh Binh province. The results after vaccination with SII and bOPV accounted for a high rate with 93,71%. In which, local reactions after injection accounted for 56%, systemic reactions after injection accounted for 86%. The most common reactions were fever with 82,57%, mild irritability 40%, pain at the injection site 32% and swelling at the injection site 25,71%. The analysis results show that there is a relationship between the nutritional status of children when vaccinated and the times of vaccine use to the post-injection response rate with OR of 0,01 (0,00 – 0,41) and 0,08 (0,01 – 0,80) respectively with statistical significance p<0,05. Parents/caregivers should be extra cautious after their child's first dose of SII and bOPV vaccines.
