Method: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 150 nurses working at clinical department at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Results: The proportion of nurses with adequate knowledge of safe intravenous injection was 89.3%, with the highest scores observed in knowledge of injections preparation (94.0%) and patient and nurse preparation (91.3%), while the lowest was in waste disposal after injection (42.0%). Regarding practice, 80.0% of nurses demonstrated good performance in safe intravenous injection, with most performing well in equipment preparation (88.7%) and patient and nurse preparation (86.7%); however, the waste disposal step showed a lower rate (64.0%). Conclusion: Overall, the proportion of nurses with adequate knowledge and practice regarding safe intravenous injection was relatively high; however, both knowledge and practice related to waste disposal after injection remained limited. The hospital should strengthen training and supervision programs to enhance nurses’ knowledge and skills in safe intravenous injection practices, particularly regarding the management of waste after injection.
