Vulvovaginal candidiasis caused by Candida species significantly impairs the health-related quality of life among women of reproductive age. However, in Khanh Hoa province, updated data on the prevalence of Candida spp. infection and its associated factors remain limited. Objectives: (1) To determine the prevalence of Candida spp. infection among women with vaginitis visiting to the Khanh Hoa Provincial Reproductive Health Care Center in 2025; (2) To describe factors associated with Candida spp. infection among these patients. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 295 women diagnosed with vaginitis. Vaginal swab specimens were collected for wet mount microscopy and Gram stain examination. Results: The prevalence of vaginal Candida spp. infection was 25,42% (95% CI: 20,79% – 30,69%). Factors associated with infection included diabetes mellitus, vaginal pH < 4,5, not performing genital hygiene after sexual intercourse, a history of previous vulvovaginal candidiasis, and drying underwear indoors. Conclusion: The prevalence of vaginal Candida spp. infection was 25,42%. Strengthening personal hygiene counseling, improving glycemic control, and appropriate management of women with recurrent infections are essential to reduce the risk of candidiasis.
